Firstly, I love serving in 강릉 with my new beautiful companion!! Her name is Sister Call and she is from Seattle, Washington. Whenever she says she from Seattle, everyone starts asking her about the movie, Sleepless Night in Seattle! She hasn’t even seen it though hehe. She was a student at BYU and lemme tell you… she is such a smartie 🙂 She’s been in Korea for less than 3 weeks now and she is honestly soaking up everything like a sponge. When I say everything, I mean everything – the language, culture, missionary lifestyle and definitely the food! She even handles spicy food better that I do sometime! She gave her intro talk in sacrament last week and the members couldn’t believe that she had only been here a few weeks! She is so hardworking and has such a strong testimony of the gospel. She has a burning desire to share the happiness she feels from knowing the gospel with everyone but sometimes feels like there is a wall between her and everyone else because of the language barrier. Despite this test of patience, she is working so diligently to learn new vocab and the culture everyday. I’m so grateful for her testimony and diligence.
We’ve been seeing a lot of miracles the past two weeks. Maybe it’s the greenie power! hehe. The Lord is definitely guiding us to people who are prepared to accept the gospel and who really need it right now. Last Sunday, one of our investigators came to church and we had a discussion afterwards. We shared the last part of The Plan of Salvation and gave her a baptismal commitment. She thought that she is unworthy to get baptised because her relationship with her husband isn’t very good at the moment and there are a lot of people who point their fingers at her. We compared her experience with how Jesus Christ suffered so much rejection and false charges. He was perfect, yet people pointed their fingers at him. We shared that God knows our situation perfectly, and that we will be judged according to our works and desires by Him – not by other people. She then accepted the invitation to be baptised at the end of this month. We are excited to help her come unto Christ and help her make the necessary covenants that will allow her to receive the full blessings of the gospel.
It’s really amazing to see how much people change when they accept and apply the teaching of Jesus Christ in their lives. Their light, confidence and happiness glows around them. On my mission, I’ve felt real happiness in observing how much God loves His children and is preparing His Children to accept his love.
